Hardware you program in sentences.

FaustWave turns a controller and a prompt into an instrument. Change a mapping by describing it. Keep the whole system inspectable — for you and for your users.

001/ Concept

A prompt is the new firmware update.

Plug in a controller. Say "make the left fader morph between the two filters." The mapping changes on the running system — no rebuild, no config file.

Under the hood it's the same environment musicians use on the desktop: a visual node graph, Faust code, an audio patchbay, and an AI that operates the exact same actions as the UI. What your users can click, they can also just ask for.

Ships in the current build.

001 / 005

MIDI routing, first-class

Devices, channels and targets are part of the patch — routed through the same patchbay as audio. A controller is a citizen of the system, not an afterthought.

AI modifies running systems

The AI operates the same action registry as the UI — it can rewire, retune and rebuild a patch while sound is playing. Change a mapping by describing it.

Auditable by design

Every change — human or AI — is an action you can log, review and reproduce. For hardware makers, that means behavior you can certify, not guess at.

Socket API

A companion-surface protocol so external hardware and apps can drive a FaustWave session — screens, knob boxes, standalone surfaces.

MIDI-Learn

Touch a control, name its job, done. One gesture from a knob on your device to a parameter in the patch.

004/ Why Faust

From prompt to product.

Faust is a proven DSP language with embedded targets. The instrument you prototype in FaustWave is portable Faust — a realistic path from prompt to product.

Prototype the sound and the interaction on the desktop, with your team and your AI. When it's right, the same DSP can travel toward your hardware — no rewrite from scratch.

PARTNERSHIP

Building an
instrument?

Controllers, synths, grooveboxes — if you're making hardware that could speak natural language, we want to talk. No forms, no funnel: mail us directly.
